Guidance and counseling programs should support the 21st century learner. Every member of our community shares responsibility in the education and personal development of our students. Data-driven guidance programs are meaningful, relevant and promote student self-advocacy and personal wellness. Counselors equip all students with the knowledge and skills to be college and career ready. Safe, nurturing, inclusive and flexible environments remove barriers to learning. All students have dignity and worth, are uniquely capable, and deserve opportunities to reach maximum potential. Students come first in the school counseling program. LISD Goal 5 What We Believe We, the LISD Guidance and Counseling Department, believe: 1. Provide system support for our diverse communities through: consultation with teachers parent education and community partnerships campus-based school improvement plans and goals state and local standardized testing program and relevant research. Intervene on behalf of students with immediate personal concerns or problems in the areas of personal-social-emotional, career, and /or educational development. Implement curriculum which develops personal-socialemotional, career, and/or education development. Engage the 21st century learner through the use of technological tools. Design an accountability system that reflects district, state, and national counseling ethics, standards, and expectations.
Guide all students as they plan, monitor, and manage their own educational, career, and personal-socialemotional development. Utilize data to develop, implement, and assess comprehensive guidance and counseling programs. Provide all students with safe, nurturing, inclusive, and flexible learning environments.
